No signal at the venue

AABA sends page turns over the internet. Here's how to keep the band together when the venue's signal is bad, and what happens when it drops.

Before the gig

Open the band link on every phone while there's a good signal, at home or at soundcheck. Wait until the loading count at the top goes away: every page is then on the phone.

Do the same on the leader's phone or tablet.

Mobile data beats venue wifi

Venue wifi gets crowded once guests arrive, and some of it blocks live connections. Mobile data is usually steadier.

If the venue's wifi is slow, turn wifi off and stay on mobile data.

When some phones have no coverage

If the leader's phone has a signal and some band members' phones don't (different networks cover venues differently), the leader turns on their phone's hotspot and those band members join it.

A hotspot only shares the leader's own signal. It doesn't help if the leader has none.

If the signal drops mid-song

Band members see "No signal" at the top. Every page already loaded still works, so swipe to turn your own pages. When the signal comes back, the screen rejoins the leader by itself.

The leader sees a red note when a page turn can't reach the band. Keep playing. The latest page sends as soon as the signal's back.

If a phone reloads with no signal

It opens the stage from the copy kept on the phone, as long as it has opened that stage before with a signal.

No signal at all

Pages still turn on each phone by swiping, but nobody follows the leader. Agree the set order before you start, as you would with paper charts.
